The 2026 Yamaha NVX’s victory as the Road Scooter of the Year (Below 250cc) at the 2026 Allianz Malaysia Motorcycle of the Year awards confirms its enduring dominance in the competitive Malaysian scooter market, a segment booming due to rising urban congestion and the cost of living.

The win was driven by the comprehensive upgrades introduced with the 2026 model, particularly the revolutionary Y-ECVT gearbox—marketed as “Turbo” in other regions—on the SP variant, which provides electronic Y-Shift functionality with selectable Low, Medium, and High modes for enhanced acceleration and engine braking, in addition to SPORT and TOURING ride modes.

This advanced powertrain, combined with a fully digital LCD instrument panel mimicking the Yamaha R1 superbike, Bluetooth Y-Connect smartphone integration, and the sporty SP variant’s remote-reservoir twin shock absorbers, cemented the NVX’s position as the benchmark for technology and performance in the sub-250cc class.
